A Raja Ampat 4 night cruise is the shortest trip that justifies the flight to Sorong: four nights in the Dampier Strait (Cape Kri, Sardine Reef, Blue Magic, Arborek) plus Piaynemo if seas allow. Wayag and Misool are out of range. Share-trip cabins are quoted per person per departure; private phinisi are quoted on request for the specific vessel, dates and guest count.
Why does a 4-night cruise mean Central Raja Ampat only?
Every Raja Ampat cruise starts and ends in Sorong (Domine Eduard Osok airport, SOQ), reached via Jakarta or Bali on Indonesian carriers including Garuda. There are no direct international flights.
From Sorong harbour, a phinisi reaches the Dampier Strait in three to four hours. Wayag lies a further eight to ten hours north, and its ranger-controlled landings need a seven-night plan. Misool needs a long southern crossing, seven to ten nights, and is rough from June to August.
A boat promising Wayag in four nights is selling two nights of transit. The honest version stays in the strait, the densest reef zone in the archipelago. Cape Kri is where ichthyologist Gerald Allen counted 374 fish species on a single dive in 2012, according to Conservation International.
What does a 4-night Raja Ampat cruise look like day by day?
Sailing hours are indicative. The skipper repositions at dawn and over lunch, and Piaynemo is the only long day.
| Day | Where you are | Sailing (indicative) | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Sorong to Mansuar/Kri | 3-4 h | Board by late morning, lunch under way, check dive or snorkel at Yenbuba jetty, anchor off Kri |
| Day 2 | Dampier Strait core | 0.5-1 h hops | Cape Kri and Sardine Reef, Blue Magic or Mioskon after lunch, Arborek village walk at sunset |
| Day 3 | Piaynemo day-run (Fam Islands) | 3-4 h each way | Karst viewpoint climb and Melissa’s Garden snorkel if seas allow; fallback is Manta Sandy plus Friwen Wall |
| Day 4 | Strait, then toward Sorong | 3-4 h | Manta Sandy or Mioskon at first light, optional Sawinggrai bird walk, afternoon sail south, anchor near Sorong |
| Day 5 | Sorong | 0-1 h | Breakfast on board, ashore by 09:00 for midday flights |
Divers log eight to ten dives; snorkellers see the same sites from the surface. Wildlife and sea state are never guaranteed, and the desk says so in writing.
Is a Raja Ampat cruise priced per person or per yacht?
It depends on the format. Mixing the two units is how travellers end up with a quote several times higher or lower than they expected. Komodo Luxury uses one unit per format, and this desk follows it on every route page, from four nights to ten:
| Format | Unit (as of 2026) | Multiply by | Where the unit comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share-trip cabin | Per person, per departure (the whole trip), by cabin class and season | Guests only, never nights | Komodo Luxury’s Share Trip Raja Ampat page, which lists the price as “quoted per departure” (checked September 2026) |
| Private phinisi or yacht | Whole vessel; quoted on request for the specific vessel, dates, duration, guest count and inclusions | Per the written quote | The reservations team’s written quote for the specific vessel |
| Government fees | Per foreign guest, per visit | Guests | West Papua and Raja Ampat Regency regulations |
Komodo Luxury does not publish a fixed Raja Ampat share-trip cabin figure. Each departure is priced by cabin class and season, and the reservations team sends the number in writing. Treat any share-trip price that does not say “per departure” as unverified.
Komodo share trips in the same network are quoted separately. Raja Ampat departures are longer and leave from a far more remote port, so expect a noticeably higher per-departure figure.
How much does a 4-night Raja Ampat cruise cost in 2026?
Two formats fit four nights, and both use the same benchmarks as this site’s 5-night and 7-night route pages (indicative, subject to change):
- Share-trip cabin: quoted per person per departure, by cabin class and season.
- Private phinisi or yacht: quoted on request for the whole vessel, based on the specific vessel, dates, duration, guest count and inclusions.
| Cost line (as of 2026) | Share-trip cabin, two guests | Private phinisi, whole vessel, four nights |
|---|---|---|
| Cruise fare | Per-person departure quote x 2 guests (nights already included) | Quote on request |
| Per-person view | The quote itself; no per-night maths | Quote on request |
| Government fees, foreign guests | Per guest; current rates confirmed at registration | Per guest; current rates confirmed at registration |
| Flights to Sorong (SOQ) | Not included | Not included |
| Tips, nitrox, gear, alcohol | Quoted separately | Quoted separately |
| Planning total | Departure quote x 2, plus government fees, plus flights | Vessel quote, plus government fees, plus flights |
Can you charter a private yacht for only four nights?
Sometimes, and the answer needs to be in writing before you book flights. Komodo Luxury’s Private Trip Raja Ampat page states a seven-night minimum from Sorong, and its luxury cruise page lists voyages from five nights. A four-night private charter is therefore an on-request exception, not a standard product.
What that means in practice:
- Off-peak gaps between longer charters are the likeliest place a vessel accepts four nights.
- Peak dates (roughly December to March) are usually held for full-length charters.
- If the owner keeps its minimum, the quote reflects the minimum nights, not four. The desk shows you that before any deposit.
For most couples and small groups, a four-night share-trip cabin is the cleaner route to the Dampier Strait.
Which boats run Raja Ampat share-trip departures?
Komodo Luxury’s Share Trip Raja Ampat page (September 2026) lists nine phinisi in its shared liveaboard fleet:
| Vessel | Cabins | Guests |
|---|---|---|
| Lamima | 7 | 14 |
| Celestia Phinisi | 7 | 14 |
| Mutiara Laut | 7 | 15 |
| Fenides | 5 | 11 |
| Lamain Voyage 2 | 8 | 20 |
| Prana by Atzaro | 9 | 18 |
| Aliikai Voyage | 7 | 14 |
| Magia II | 4 | 10 |
| La Galigo Phinisi | 7 | 14 |
The same page notes that Raja Ampat open trips typically run 4 days and 3 nights or 5 days and 4 nights, while Komodo Luxury’s packaged Raja Ampat itineraries run 7D6N, 9D8N and 11D10N. So a four-night Central departure exists in the share format, but not every vessel runs one every month. The desk confirms which boat, if any, has a four-night slot in your window.
When should you sail, and how far ahead should you book?
Core season is October to April: calm seas and the best Dampier Strait visibility. May, June and September are shoulder months. June to August is windier; the strait stays workable, but Piaynemo day-runs get cancelled more often.
Demand is the real constraint. BPS Raja Ampat figures put visitors at about 19,839 in 2023 and about 33,277 in 2024. Peak-date cabins on the larger phinisi often sell 8-12 months ahead, and master cabins go first.
| Month band | Sea state (typical) | Booking lead time |
|---|---|---|
| October-December | Calm, good visibility | 8-12 months for master cabins |
| January-April | Calm to moderate, peak demand | 8-12 months |
| May, September | Shoulder, variable | 3-6 months |
| June-August | Windier; Piaynemo runs less reliable | 2-4 months |
Which government fees apply on top of the fare?
Two payments apply per foreign guest in 2026:
- Marine Park Conservation Card: sold at Sorong and Waisai counters or via the operator.
- Raja Ampat Regency visitor ticket: paid through SIPARI.
Current rates are confirmed at registration, so check the date on any fee figure you read.
How does booking a 4-night cabin work?
- Message the desk. WhatsApp 628113823875 with your month, guest count, cabin class and whether you dive or snorkel.
- Receive the options. The reservations team replies with any four-night Central departures in your window, the per-person departure price by cabin class, and inclusions. If no four-night slot exists, it offers the nearest 7D6N departure or a private quote for the whole vessel, with any minimum-night rule stated.
- Hold the cabin. A deposit under Komodo Luxury’s written terms secures it; the balance follows the same terms.
- Book flights into SOQ. Land by late morning on boarding day; fly out no earlier than midday on Day 5.
- Sort the fees. The desk arranges the Conservation Card and SIPARI ticket, or you pay at the counter; confirm cash versus card first.
- Get the boarding brief. Twenty-four hours out: harbour pickup point, gear notes and the skipper’s weather call on Piaynemo.
> Get a 4-night quote in writing. Send “4-night Central, [month], [guests], [cabin class]” to Komodo Luxury’s reservations desk on WhatsApp 628113823875 or sales@komodoluxury.com. You receive departure options, the per-person departure price or a private whole-vessel quote, and the fee checklist. Komodo Luxury (PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara) was founded in 2015, is headquartered in Denpasar, Bali, and runs its operations base in Labuan Bajo; all prices here are indicative as of 2026 and subject to change.
