Raja Ampat Luxury Cruise 2026: Top VVIP Phinisi & Yachts

A Raja Ampat luxury cruise is a whole-vessel voyage on one of the top hulls Komodo Luxury lists for Sorong departures: 45-65 m phinisi such as Lamima, Prana by Atzaró, Silolona and Vela, sleeping 10-18 guests with full-board service. Each is quoted per vessel; the full 2026 range sits on our Raja Ampat cruise price page.

This desk is operated by Komodo Luxury. Komodo Luxury (PT Komodo Bahari Nusantara) was founded in 2015, is headquartered in Denpasar, Bali, and runs its operations base in Labuan Bajo, as listed on Komodo Luxury (checked 2026-09-16). Its reservations team answers every enquiry directly. This page covers the top tier only. For how a whole-boat charter works at any budget, read the private Raja Ampat cruise page. For every hull on the shelf, from value phinisi to dive liveaboards, open Raja Ampat cruise boats.

What makes a Raja Ampat cruise “luxury” rather than just private?

Private describes the unit: you take the whole boat. Luxury describes the hull and the service built around it.

Komodo Luxury’s 2026 charter overview sorts its fleet into VIP speedboats for day trips, phinisi in VIP and VVIP classes, and larger luxury yachts and catamarans. Those badges are the operator’s own grading. It publishes no fixed rule for them, and the price bands overlap, so a VVIP label alone tells you little.

This page uses a stricter cut that you can check yourself. It is our editorial filter, not an industry standard:

  • Hull length: 45 m or longer. Si Datu Bua, at 40.2 m with only six guests, is the single smaller exception.
  • Guest load: 18 guests or fewer, so dining, sundecks and tenders never feel crowded.

Fourteen hulls on the Raja Ampat shelf pass both tests. Komodo Luxury describes its network as nine owned-and-operated yachts plus more than 200 vetted partner vessels, so owner and charter terms differ by hull. The quotation names both.

Which vessels sit at the top of the Raja Ampat luxury tier?

Each rate below is for the whole vessel and is quoted on request for the specific vessel, dates, duration, guest count and inclusions.

Vessel Length Cabins Max guests Rate for the whole vessel Hull metres per guest
Lamima 65.2 m 7 14 Quote on request 4.7 m
Kudanil Explorer 50 m 8 16 Quote on request 3.1 m
Prana by Atzaró 55 m 9 18 Quote on request 3.1 m
Dunia Baru 51 m 7 14 Quote on request 3.6 m
Silolona 50 m 5 10 Quote on request 5.0 m
Vela 50 m 6 12 Quote on request 4.2 m
Alila Purnama 46 m 5 10 Quote on request 4.6 m
Sanctuary 48 m 9 18 Quote on request 2.7 m
Bhavana 48 m 7 14 Quote on request 3.4 m
Otium 48 m 6 12 Quote on request 4.0 m
The Maj Oceanic 47 m 6 12 Quote on request 3.9 m
Mutiara Laut 46 m 7 15 Quote on request 3.1 m
Celestia 45 m 7 14 Quote on request 3.2 m
Si Datu Bua 40.2 m 3 6 Quote on request 6.7 m

“Hull metres per guest” is simple arithmetic: length divided by maximum guests. It is a rough proxy for space, not an official measure, but it separates a boat built for ten from one built for eighteen faster than any brochure.

Every vessel is quoted on request for the specific vessel, dates, duration, guest count and inclusions, and nothing is final until a written quotation. To compare these rates with entry-level private phinisi and shared cabins, use the price page rather than this one.

Which top-tier hull fits your group?

Guest counts do most of the sorting. The pairings below come from the listed capacities, plus the route matches Komodo Luxury publishes on its own rate page.

Your group Shortlist from Why it fits on paper
A couple or two couples Si Datu Bua (6 guests), Silolona (10), Alila Purnama (10) The most hull length per guest on the shelf
Family or friends of 12-14 Vela, Otium, The Maj Oceanic (12); Lamima, Dunia Baru, Bhavana, Celestia (14) Enough cabins to split parents, children and friends
A party of 15-18 Mutiara Laut (15), Kudanil Explorer (16), Prana by Atzaró, Sanctuary (18) Nine cabins on Prana and Sanctuary; no third berths needed
South to Misool Bhavana, Vela, Otium, Sanctuary Paired by Komodo Luxury with the longer Misool crossing
North-to-south loops Prana by Atzaró, Dunia Baru, Kudanil Explorer, Lamima Paired by Komodo Luxury for range, tenders and crew depth

Split the bill at full occupancy and the per-guest picture shifts. Ask for the per-guest share on the written quotation for your dates, duration, guest count and inclusions. Fewer guests aboard means a higher share each, because the vessel rate does not move.

What service level should a luxury charter include?

Price differences between these hulls are real, but inclusions vary even more. Treat the middle column as what this tier is built around, and the right column as what must appear on paper before you pay.

Service area What the top tier is built around Get this in writing
Cabins A low cabin count for the hull size Bed plan by name: which cabins are doubles, twins or convertible
Crew A crew serving your group only Crew count and roles: captain, cruise director, chef, dive staff, wellness staff where offered
Dining Private chef, full board Dietary brief deadline, alcohol policy, wine charges
Diving and snorkelling Dive guides and equipment, varying by hull Guide-to-diver ratio, nitrox cost, certification required
Tenders and water toys SUP, kayaks and snorkel sets as a base Number of tenders; toys permitted in each park zone
Wayag permits Ranger-controlled access arranged by the operator Landing never guaranteed; build in a spare day
Tax and government fees VAT added where the vessel page prints it Park fees billed separately per foreign guest

Two government fees sit outside almost every rate:

  • Marine Park Conservation Card: the current rate is confirmed at booking.
  • Regency visitor ticket: set by Raja Ampat Regency and confirmed at booking.

Fees can change, so date-check any fee you read.

Can you sail on a luxury hull without chartering the whole boat?

On some of them, yes. Komodo Luxury’s Share Trip Raja Ampat page lists nine phinisi for shared departures, and four sit in the tier above: Lamima, Prana by Atzaró, Celestia and Mutiara Laut.

Those departures run on fixed dates, typically 4D3N or 5D4N, usually with 8-16 guests. Piaynemo, Manta Sandy and Blue Magic are on the standard route, with Wayag added seasonally. The page prices them per departure by cabin class and season, and publishes no per-cabin figure, so neither do we. See the Raja Ampat share trip cruise page for how to request a cabin quote.

When should a luxury cruise sail, and for how long?

Core season runs October to April. Komodo Luxury’s own guidance names November to March as the calmest window. June to August brings wind, and the Sorong to Misool crossing can be rough, which is why Komodo Luxury pairs its largest hulls with the southern routes.

Komodo Luxury publishes 7D6N, 9D8N and 11D10N Raja Ampat itineraries and says most private guests choose 7-10 nights. Route length follows the region:

  • Central, Dampier Strait: 4-5 nights for Cape Kri, Blue Magic, Manta Sandy and Arborek.
  • North, Wayag: about 7 nights, with ranger-controlled summit landings.
  • South, Misool: 7-10 nights because of the crossing, detailed on the South Raja Ampat cruise to Misool page.

Every voyage starts and ends in Sorong, at Domine Eduard Osok airport (SOQ), reached via Jakarta or Bali. For a named hull in the December to March peak, eight to twelve months ahead is normal. 2027 dates are quoted on request.

How does booking a luxury vessel work?

  1. Send your brief. Date window, guest count and ages, budget band, region, and must-haves such as dive level or a master suite for one couple.
  2. Receive three matched hulls. The reservations team replies with three vessels that fit, each with real photos, cabin plans and availability for your dates.
  3. Check three quotation lines. Tax inclusive or added, which government fees are inside, and the bed plan by cabin name.
  4. Pay the deposit. Komodo Luxury’s partner-phinisi terms take a 50% deposit with the balance 14 days before departure. Lamima runs its own charter agreement, with the balance due 90 days out and a stepped cancellation scale.
  5. Pre-departure desk. Park fees, dietary notes, dive certifications and Wayag permits are settled before you fly.
  6. Board in Sorong. Airport transfer to the pier, briefing aboard, and departure on the tide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the largest luxury vessel for a Raja Ampat cruise?

Lamima, at 65.2 m, is the longest hull on Komodo Luxury’s Raja Ampat shelf. It has seven cabins for up to 14 guests, and its rate is quoted on request for the specific vessel, dates, duration, guest count and inclusions. Groups larger than 14 should look at Prana by Atzaró or Sanctuary, which each take 18 guests.

Which Raja Ampat luxury boat suits a couple best?

Look for the most space per guest. Si Datu Bua carries six guests in three cabins on a 40.2 m hull, while Silolona and Alila Purnama each take ten guests in five cabins on 50 m and 46 m hulls. Two people pay the full vessel rate either way, so the choice rests on privacy and crew attention.

Can I book a single cabin on Lamima or Prana by Atzaró?

Sometimes. Komodo Luxury lists both, along with Celestia and Mutiara Laut, for shared Raja Ampat departures of typically 4D3N or 5D4N. Those cabins are priced per departure by cabin class and season, with no published per-cabin figure. Send the month, guest count and preferred cabin type, and ask for the single-occupancy price if travelling alone.

Are Wayag landings guaranteed on a luxury charter?

No. Wayag access is ranger-controlled, so the operator arranges the permit but cannot promise a landing on a given day, whatever the vessel. Sea state matters too, which is why Wayag routes need about seven nights and are best planned for the October to April core season. Keep a spare day in the itinerary rather than relying on one window.

How far ahead should we book a top-tier hull for peak season?

For a named vessel between December and March, allow eight to twelve months. The top-tier hulls carry few cabins and the Raja Ampat season is short, so the best weeks go first. Komodo Luxury quotes 2027 dates on request. A deposit holds the dates once the quotation is agreed.
