Why does Misool need 7-10 nights?
From Sorong the run to south-east Misool is roughly 80-100 nautical miles of open sea, an overnight passage of about 12 hours at phinisi speed, repeated on the way home. On a 5-night cruise, two nights would go to transit, leaving three days for a district that deserves a week.
Seven nights is the working minimum for a Misool-only route. Ten nights lets a vessel add the Dampier Strait on the return leg; of Komodo Luxury’s four advertised regions (Wayag, Misool, Dampier Strait, Fam Islands), the 10-night format is the only realistic way to pair the south with another.
Weather sets the second limit. The core season is October to April, when the crossing is calm. June to August brings south-east winds, and the Sorong-Misool leg can turn rough enough that captains hold in Dampier Strait or the Fam group instead.
